bb7 is seeking a Reliability Engineer for our medical device client in Madison, WI. This project is expected to last until June of 2018 but could become long-term for the right candidate. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for identifying and prioritizing design risks, implementing and executing plans to mitigate those risks, and quantitatively capturing the results of risk mitigation activities. The Reliability Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams and reports to the Sr. Reliability Engineer in the Systems Engineering group.

Responsibilities

  • Identify product and reliability requirements; create and execute reliability plans; develop, execute, and document reliability tests
  • Quantify component and subsystem intended and unintended usage, capturing user and service workflows
  • Work to resolve reliability risks and/or problems found during analysis and testing
  • Facilitate hardware DFMEA sessions with project teams
  • Develop and execute reliability tests including Accelerated Life Tests, Highly Accelerated Life Tests, and Reliability Demonstration Tests
  • Analyze internal and field data to identify, resolve, and track product reliability problems
  • Determine estimates of component and subsystem reliability
  • Work with development engineers and suppliers to ensure products/components meet or exceed functional requirements over their intended life in their intended environment
  • Support managers in establishing and updating project timetables as well as evaluating engineering technologies and tools
  • Ensure safety and quality considerations and requirements are proactively addressed and implemented in product design

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics required. An advanced technical degree and/or reliability certification, such as American Society of Quality (ASQ) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) preferred
  • 3+ years of experience as a Reliability Engineer in a product development environment
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, as well as some familiarity with shop machinery used to fabricate prototype components
  • Hands-on experience with reliability-centric software, including Weilbull Analysis, reliability diagrams, reliability prediction, and Accelerated Life Testing (ATL) preferred
  • Programming experience ideal, preferably Python or other scripting language
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
