bb7 is looking for a Market Development Manager to work for one of our clients, a leading innovator in materials science. The Market Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, validating, and deploying new business opportunities and offerings by leveraging Design Innovation firms and organizations. The right candidate will set high-level strategic product roadmaps for new opportunities in collaborations with relevant technical and commercial leaders.


  • Understand market, application, customer, and user needs in targeted industries/strategic areas
  • Develop relationships with key targeted industry designers and innovation groups
  • Project management: ensure that timelines and deliverables are met per SOW
  • Coordinate communication between commercial/technical groups and designers
  • Support account teams with the development of customer-specific presentation materials
  • Meeting facilitation (communication setup, action items capture and follow up)
  • Provide market, technology, and economic analyses in support of projects exploring new and potentially unfamiliar markets
  • Identify attributes of materials and technologies and link them to potential functions and applications
  • Conduct research to develop, test, and identify opportunities for value creation; facilitate tech scans, customer and competitive analyses, market assessment and systems and financial analyses
  • Analyze data utilizing market-led strategy and innovation tools; perform systems modeling and analyses to identify key components to fit capabilities and quantify potential value
  • Facilitate implementation of Design Thinking Method into internal processes
  • Participate in Ideation Workshops (internal and external)


  • Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred
  • 3+ years’ work experience in customer-facing business, market, and/or account management
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Independent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong project management skills and attention to details
  • Ability to travel 30% domestic / international required
