bb7 is looking for a LabVIEW Test Engineer to work with one of our clients. The individual in this role will be work alongside a team of engineers of varying experience to develop and support products primarily in the aerospace industry. This individual will be responsible for supporting design engineering by leading the creation and execution of test software and instrumentation of test setups. This support includes new product development, field repairs, R&D and production support.


  • Provide project oversight on aerospace test projects from initial design through release including:
    • Review specifications
    • Develop cost and schedule estimates as well as communicate current project status, issues and developments
    • Design and write test software
    • Instrument test setups for proper data acquisition
    • Creation and execution of verification and validation procedures
    • Prepare material for and participate in customer reviews and presentations
  • Develop departmental procedures and processes to facilitate the efficient release and maintenance of test software
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with best engineering practices


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and a minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering, scientific or related technical role
  • Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or equivalent required; Certified LabVIEW Architect desired
  • Familiarity with National Instruments FPGA, RTOS and PID control
  • Ability to create small to medium programs using:
    • Producer/consumer architectures utilizing notifiers and queues
    • DAQmx programming as well as creating executables and installers
  • Comfortable using National Instruments hardware to build and maintain data acquisition systems (Thermocouples, RTDs, analog current I/O, analog voltage I/O, digital I/O, etc.)
  • Experience using software version control tools such as SVN, ClearCase or Dimensions
  • Understanding of electrical instrumentation application, including:
    • Working with and connecting instruments such as thermocouples, RTD’s, pressure transducers, flow meters and various other instruments that typically utilize 0-10 Vdc or 4-20 mA signals
    • Ability to isolate and troubleshoot issues with instruments connected to data acquisition modules
    • Familiarity with using DMMs and oscilloscopes to measure voltage, current, resistance or inductance
    • Ability to connect signal wires to various controllers and data acquisition modules
    • Working knowledge of equipment calibration requirements and processes
  • Flexibility to work non-standard shifts and/or weekends on an as needed (<20%) basis with proper notice

  • Working knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, TCP/IP or ARINC
  • Ability to use scripting and macros to collate, analyze and store large amounts of data
  • Experience with SQL server, Spotfire or similar database system and programming in these environments
  • Background and understanding of aircraft air management systems
  • Knowledge of standards such as DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810
  • Experience designing and operating test equipment in a high pressure, temperature and flow pneumatic environment
